Submarine acoustic solutions
Systems and solutions for underwater acoustic detection
Providing high-performance acoustic solutions for underwater detection
With nearly 40 years experience in acoustic engineering, ALSEAMAR designs, operates and maintains innovative acoustic solutions to answer the challenges of naval missions:
Acoustic intelligence (ACOUSTINT)
Underwater warfare
Anti-Surface Warfare (ASuW)
Seabed warfare
Maritime surveillance
Acoustic equipment and services
Platform engineering & integration
ALSEAMAR designs complete, modular acoustic systems tailored to the specific requirements of each mission. The teams handle the hardware and software integration of components, taking into account constraints related to environment, space, and power.
Each solution is optimized for maximum compatibility with existing infrastructures, ensuring high performance, robustness, and scalability—whether for autonomous, semi-autonomous, or remotely operated platforms.
Acoustic equipment
ALSEAMAR designs, manufactures, operates and maintains a wide range of acoustic equipment.
- Acoustic sensors
- Pingers
- Towed fish
Each piece of equipment is tested and validated to withstand the marine environment conditions, with performance optimized for accuracy, range and endurance.
Acoustic payloads
ALSEAMAR develops high-performance payloads designed for passive acoustic detection.
Equipped from 4 to 8 hydrophones, it can be mounted on various platforms (SEAEXPLORER gliders, acoustic buoys, autonomous stations, etc.) to allow underwater acoustic detection.
Acoustic algorithms
Acoustic algorithms are configurated on acoustic payloads to allow data management. Each algorithm has been developped by ALSEAMAR to answer specific missions:
- AMBIA: ambient noise detection and celerity profiles
- PULSA: sonar localisation
AURIS on-board processing platform
AURIS is an advanced on-board processing system.
- On-board processor: Jetson Nano Nvidia
- Open system: ROS – compatible with Python and C++
- Sampling frequency (fs): 8 kHz – 192 kHz (4 channels)
Systems qualification
ALSEAMAR’s teams conduct full system qualification campaigns, both in the lab and in real-world environments, to validate the performance and robustness of our acoustic systems. This includes functional, environmental, and operational testing according to industry standards or client-specific requirements.
The team’s rigor approach guarantees compliance, safety, and the long-term reliability of delivered solutions, with full supporting documentation.
Systems marinization
ALSEAMAR provides marinization services for electronic and mechanical systems, adapting components to withstand the marine environment—including pressure, corrosion and temperature variation.
The expertise of the teams guarantees the durability, waterproofing and reliability of marinized systems.
Data processing
ALSEAMAR’s processing systems include algorithms for detection, classification, and localization, optimized for performance and energy efficiency.
The AURIS processing platform developed by ALSEAMAR, equipped with specific acoustic algorithms, are integrated into detection systems to enable real-time on-board processing and analysis of the data collected.
Offshore services
ALSEAMAR conducts offshore data acquisition campaigns for the collection of acoustic data. A variety of platforms can be used, including SEAEXPLORER underwater gliders, acoustic buoys or autonomous acoustic stations.
These operations are carried out by ALSEAMAR’s experts, from equipment deployment to data analysis.
Systems modernization, retrofit and obsolescence management
Over the years, ALSEAMAR has acquired unique and recognized expertise in managing the performance and reliability of sophisticated equipment: retrofit, maintenance and obsolescence management.
Their ability to maintain these systems at optimum operational levels is based on a combination of technical skills, in-depth knowledge of underwater technologies and a strong capacity to adapt to the specific requirements of each mission.
