SONUSIA
Distributed Underwater Solution for Persistent Maritime Surveillance
SONUSIA is a solution based on a modular, distributed network of acoustic and non-acoustic underwater sensors designed to support persistent threat detection and environmental monitoring.
By combining data collection and onboard processing across multiple underwater platforms, SONUSIA provides continuous maritime situational awareness in critical areas where persistent monitoring is required.
Continuous Maritime Situational Awareness
Ports, straits, cables or pipelines, critical infrastructure and areas are difficult to monitor permanently as they operate in an ever-changing environment. Now more than ever, maritime surveillance must increasingly extend below the waterline.
As the range of threats is becoming more diverse, with an increasing number of autonomous, compact, and stealth underwater assets, critical areas are becoming more vulnerable.
SONUSIA brings an underwater solution to detect and locate threats, distinguish them from background activity, and provide relevant information to enable a rapid response.
Real-time Monitoring for Critical Infrastructure Protection
Applications range from anti-submarine warfare (ASW) to broader maritime surveillance, serving both defense and civilian security needs.
For defense, SONUSIA can support the detection, localization and classification of underwater threats, including potential hostile activity near naval facilities or strategic maritime passages.
For civilian authorities and infrastructure operators, it can help monitor coastal approaches, ports and offshore sites, and support the protection of subsea communication cables, power lines and pipelines by flagging unusual activity for assessment.

From Surface to Seabed: Interoperable, Persistent and Stealth Sensors
Designed to integrate interoperable fixed and mobile platforms operating at various depths, SONUSIA enables surveillance from the seafloor to the surface.
Based on the sea-proven SEAEXPLORER glider for monitoring the water column, the solution also features new platforms developed by ALSEAMAR: the SEAMONITOR surface buoy and the SEANODE autonomous seabed station.
These sensors, all powered by AURIS, are designed for continuous maritime surveillance missions thanks to their stealth, low acoustic signature and endurance at sea.
