ALSEAMAR announces the launch of SONUSIA, a modular, distributed network of acoustic and non-acoustic underwater sensors designed to support persistent threat detection and environmental monitoring. By combining data collection and onboard processing across multiple underwater platforms, SONUSIA provides continuous maritime situational awareness in critical areas where persistent monitoring is required.

The solution is designed for a range of maritime security missions, including critical infrastructure protection and strategic maritime passages surveillance – straits, shipping lanes, etc. – as well as coastal and harbor areas protection. Based on ALSEAMAR’s lightweight and stealth underwater solutions, SONUSIA is easy to operate and requires minimal resources for deployment and recovery.

By bringing together onboard processing, interoperable platforms and a flexible sensor architecture, the solution is designed to integrate relevant data into a wider maritime surveillance framework.

Onboard processing – ALSEAMAR’s sea-proven AURIS passive sonar

SONUSIA integrates ALSEAMAR’s AURIS passive sonar—a sea-proven system already in operation within the French Armed Forces—enabling onboard data acquisition and processing, which strengthens the solution’s role in continuous underwater surveillance.
Thanks to its open architecture, AURIS enables the identification and classification of threats using detection algorithms developed by ALSEAMAR or the integration of custom algorithms provided by the naval forces.

Full water-column coverage – from surface to seabed with interoperable, persistent and stealth sensors

Designed to integrate interoperable fixed and mobile platforms operating at various depths, SONUSIA enables surveillance from the seafloor to the surface. Based on the sea proven SEAEXPLORER glider for monitoring the water column, the solution also features new platforms developed by ALSEAMAR: the SEAMONITOR surface buoy and the SEANODE autonomous seabed station.
These sensors, all powered by AURIS, are designed for continuous maritime surveillance missions thanks to their stealth, low acoustic signature and endurance at sea.

Modular threat coverage – scalable and agile sensor network

SONUSIA’s modular architecture allows the sensor network to be configured—including the types and number of platforms deployed, network’s layout and the distance from the area to be protected—based on the mission and the coverage required for threat detection.
This scalability makes the solution agile and cost-effective, while meeting defense budget constraints.

Data transmission and interoperability – GLIMPSE C2 and data analysis

Real-time data transmission is provided by the ALSEAMAR GLIMPSE C2 system, which enables the fusion and visualization of data collected and processed on board. GLIMPSE is designed to be interoperable with other assets’ C2 systems, allowing its collected and processed data to be integrated into a wider surveillance network.
